Blog #9 Abstract Expressionism

            In my art 11 class I was asked to discus how American artist created an American image. To create an American image, American artist used pop Art. American artist looked for a deeper meaning in the style of their art. Before Abstract Expressionism, paintings by artist were focused on fictional origins such as dreams and myths. Artist were stuck in a surrealist phases. American artist used popular culture to make an image truly American. They used images from popular cultures like advertising, and headlines from newspaper. Jackson Pollock and other artist used action or gesture painting to display the artist activity during the creative process. The amazing work of art that many of these artists did was to put the United State in the map of the International Art world. Yes I do agree with what they think America is. I also believe that artist liked to express themselves through the form of Art, because it allowed them to express their emotions through what they create.
